La Rosaleda, initially conceived in 1941 and remodelled between 2000 and 2006, is the home of Málaga CF and a football icon of the city of Málaga. Indeed, the Costa del Sol coliseum reflects a rich history linked to local, national and international football. Its name, originating from the old “Rosaleda Stadium” of 1924, represents the site where it was built and has become an essential place name in Spanish football.
With a capacity for 30,044 spectators and a regulation size of 105 x 68 metres, this stadium has been the setting for great matches at both the elite and more modest levels, whether in the 1982 World Cup, the Champions League or other highly-prized events such as the Costa del Sol Trophy, which has been held since 1961.
Recognised as the best Primera División sports venue in the 2014/15 season, La Rosaleda is witness to euphoria and commotion, victories celebrated and defeats lamented by Málaga CF.
The Málaga stadium goes beyond being a playing field; it is a symbol rooted in Málaga’s footballing identity, a place where the passion for football is intertwined with the history and emotion of each match, forging unforgettable memories in the local footballing community and beyond.
HOW TO GET THERE
La Rosaleda, located on Paseo de Martiricos, is situated between the Palma-Palmilla and Ciudad Jardín neighbourhoods, on the banks of the Guadalmedina River. Although it does not have its own car park, fans can find parking in the surrounding area. Accessible by public transport, it can be reached by EMT Lines 1, 2, 17, 20, 30, and C2.
