By plane
Gran Canaria Airport is the gateway to the island for more than a hundred international destinations. It is situated 18 kilometres from the capital and is accessible by ‘guagua’ (as buses are known in the Canary Islands) operated by Global, or by taxi (a journey of between 20 and 30 minutes).
Road
The GC-1 Southern Motorway links Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the south of the island – a major tourist destination – and ends in the municipality of Mogán. Stretching for almost 68 kilometres, this motorway runs the length of Gran Canaria’s eastern coast, passing the airport on the way.
Boat
The Port of Las Palmas, also known as the Port of La Luz and Las Palmas, is the most important port in the Mid-Atlantic and a key strategic link between Europe, Africa and the Americas, both in terms of freight and passenger transport, and particularly as a cruise destination.
Public transport
The main public transport service is provided by Guaguas Municipales, with its distinctive yellow buses, which cover the whole of the municipality. You can also choose to travel by taxi, hire bicycles or scooters, and make use of the fifty kilometres of cycle paths provided for these vehicles.
