Gran Canaria Stadium

The Gran Canaria Stadium is the venue where Unión Deportiva Las Palmas have played their official matches since 2003, when it replaced the historic Estadio Insular, which is now an urban park in the very centre of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is situated in the upper part of the city, in the Siete Palmas neighbourhood. It has a capacity of 32,418 spectators and measures 105 x 68. It is the sports venue with the largest capacity in the Canary Islands.

Owned by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, it was initially designed as a multi-purpose stadium. During the 2015/16 season, the athletics tracks were removed to bring the stands closer to the pitch.

The Siete Palmas stadium has hosted three matches involving the Spanish national football team. The first and the last were friendlies: against Venezuela in 2004 and against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2018. In 2007, it hosted a qualifying match for Euro 2008 against Northern Ireland.

In 2024, FIFA designated Gran Canaria as one of the host venues for the 2030 World Cup, and so the comprehensive expansion and refurbishment project, known as ‘La Nube’, is already underway. This includes increasing the capacity to 44,484 spectators and the installation of a large, lightweight roof that will envelop the stadium.
