Casa Batlló

Located on the elegant Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló is one of Antoni Gaudí’s most fascinating creations. Between 1904 and 1906, the architect transformed an existing building into a spectacular work of art, with a façade of flowing shapes, colourful mosaics and details that seem to change with the light. The building is filled with references to nature, encouraging visitors to look closely at every detail. Its rooftop, with its distinctive dragon-like design, is one of its most recognisable features. Together with other Gaudí works, Casa Batlló forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and perfectly captures the imagination and originality of Catalan Modernisme.

• The balconies have been compared to masks or skulls, earning the building the nickname “House of Bones”.
• The rooftop is inspired by the back of a dragon.
