Copa Libertadores Final

On 9 December 2018, Madrid hosted a historic and unprecedented event: the final of the Copa Libertadores, CONMEBOL’s premier competition. What’s more, the two most popular teams in Argentina, Boca Juniors and River Plate – which are also two of the world’s biggest clubs – had reached the final to contest the title. In fact, this was the second leg, following a 2–2 draw at La Bombonera, after serious incidents had forced the organisers to find a neutral venue to decide the title.
