Alcazaba de Málaga
The Alcazaba of Malaga, erected between 1057 and 1063 by order of King Badis of Granada, is an imposing citadel that dominates the slopes of Mount Gibralfaro. From its beginnings, this fortress was the key defensive for the city and its port, with an incomparable strategic location. Its towers interlaced by a double wall make it one of the most formidable fortresses of the Middle Ages. The Alcazaba, whose name in Arabic means “citadel”, projects an imposing architecture that still stands the test of time. Its intricate corridors, lush gardens and courtyards evoke a past of splendour and military history.
