Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has five markets where you can discover and sample local produce, some of which have eateries both inside and in the surrounding area.

The Mercado del Puerto, near Las Canteras beach, is a must-visit destination for savouring Canarian cuisine and dishes from different corners of the globe. At the Mercado Central, in the Mesa y López shopping area, you can have a coffee, enjoy some churros and even have lunch or dinner right inside the market itself.

In the historic centre lies the Mercado de Vegueta, the oldest market in the Canary Islands, with stalls where you can have breakfast or sample the island’s cheeses and wines. You can also savour the island’s produce at the Mercado de Altavista.

On Sundays, head to the San Lorenzo Agricultural Market. An open-air venue situated in the most rural part of the city, where you can shop, enjoy folk music, and have a bite to eat at its canteen.
